Structure:

  • Erect stems 10-30 cm high, simple (unbranched) lower, forking higher, constricted between seasons' growth.
  • Horizontal subterranean stems, creeping, branching, and rhizome-like.

Leaves:

  • Lower leaves spread out, leaves of branches in 6-8 vertical rows, sharply pointed.
